Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Work Instructions: Power Distribution Module Replacement – Model C60 MicroTurbine Required Tools 10mm Socket #2 Phillips head screwdriver #3 Phillips head screwdriver 5/16” socket (90 degree or flexible angle) Procedures 1. Ensure the MicroTurbine system is in the standby state. 2. Remove all power sources and fuel supply from the MicroTurbine system. 3. Remove the MicroTurbine left side panel. 4. Remove ECM cover by removing fourteen #2 Phillips screws. 5. Disconnect cables from Power Distribution Module (PDM) a. J1: High Voltage Power Supply, J2: 24V Power Supply 6. Disconnect J11: Heat sink thermistor cable from ECM Control Board. 7. Disconnect J9 Intra and J12 Inter System / UCB cables from ECM Control Board. 8. Remove ECM Control Board with mounting plate using #3 screwdriver. 9. Disconnect ECM Power board cable connections a. J1 Voltage sense, J4 Power supply, J3 Fan Inverter 10. Remove two 10mm nuts for Bus- connections to Power Board. 11. Remove three 10mm nuts for Bus+ / Brake+ connections to Power Board. 12. Disconnect ECM Power board from the IGBT module by removing three #3 Phillips screws and three 10mm nuts. 13. Remove the ECM Power board by removing the two #2 Phillips screws holding the Capacitor mounting plate at the rear of the package. 14. Remove the ECM power board assembly (power board, capacitors and mounting plate). 15. Remove Power Distribution Module a. Remove four 5/16” nuts securing heat sink and PCBA board to housing (rubber washer, star washer and nut). Use flexible or 90 degree angle tool to remove top left nut. b. Remove PDM board with heat sink. 16. Install new PDM board assembly. 17. Secure to housing by reconnecting four nuts including rubber washer and star washer using 5/16” socket. Tighten to 45 in-lbs of torque. 18. Reinstall ECM Power Board. a. Reinstall the mounting nuts and screws to the DC Bus cables. Use the 45 in- lbs torque drive to tighten the nuts.
