Outdoor Installation: For outdoor skids installed in cold climates, heat tracing and insulation will need to be installed on all condensate piping as well as some gas piping. Heat tracing should be wired directly to the site switchgear, not to the skid control panel. For outdoor skids using scroll compressors it is recommended that the customer provide some protection from the elements, even on outdoor rated skids. A pole building with an overhanging roof is adequate for this purpose. This building should provide adequate ceiling clearance for installing the skid and performing maintenance. Also, for skids using glycol chillers that will sit outside, it is recommended that a wind break be installed on one or more sides of the chiller from which the prevailing winds will be blowing. If there is any uncertainty about the need for outdoor protection, please contact the factory. Indoor Installation: If installing the gas conditioning skid in an enclosed building, it is recommended that ventilation be provided in the building at a rate of 12 air exchanges per hour. This serves the purpose of dissipating excess heat and also preventing any combustible gases from accumulating inside the building. When installing the skid in an enclosed building, Unison Solutions also recommends installing a combustible gas meter with an alarm at 20% of the lower explosive limit of the gas.
