This temperature is limited to 65° C to protect the battery case from softening and possible failure. This temperature limit can be reached if the battery is used heavily for some period of time. The limit is a relationship between the current and the thermal properties of the battery. Figure 3 charts the expected increase in battery temperature (y-axis) for a given transient size (lines), and a transient interval (x-axis). The temperature increase should be added to the maximum ambient temperature.
