CAPACITOR BANK ñ high-voltage capacitors connected to DC-BUS that provides transient energy during IGBT switching. CAPACITY ñ A measure used to define the electrical output potential of a generating unit, utility or the entire system. Capacity is expressed in units of electrical power, usually megawatts. CAP M (CAPACITY MARGIN) ñ The capacity margin is the difference between net capacity resources and net internal demand. Capacity margin in percent is this difference expressed as a percent of net capacity resources. CARB ñ California Air Resources Board. CART ñ Structure that supports the major assemblies and accessories required to create a MicroTurbine generator system. The cart is contained within the enclosure and can be removed to allow access for service or repair of the modules, assemblies or accessories. The cart is mounted on wheels that facilitate handling. CE Mark ñ Conformite Europeene (European Conformity) Mark. CE Marking per CE Marking Directive, 93/68/EEC signifies product conformance with European Union (EU) Directive(s). Approval marking for products being shipped into countries of EU. CERTIFICATION - Concurrence by a regulatory agency such as UL or CSA that our product meets the governing specifications for our type of products. Certification results in approval to display the regulatory agencyís logo or mark on the product. Some agencies permit self- certification, where Capstone declares that its product meets the governing specifications. CFM ñ Cubic feet per minute flow. CHP - Combined Heat & Power. Cm ñ Centimeter; 1cm = 10mm = 0.393701 inches. CNG ñ Compressed Natural Gas. Primarily used in HEV applications. CNG is assumed to be at a constant pressure unlike street natural gas. Hence, a pressure transducer at the inlet to the SPV is not used with CNG in HEV systems. CO ñ Carbon Monoxide. CO2 ñ Carbon Dioxide. COGENERATION ñ The term applied to generating plants which utilize a single heat source for a dual purpose ñ generating electrical energy and some other use such as the production of process steam. CHP and BCHP applications of cogeneration.
