Respondents reported on the number of kilns in their respective plants or divisions. The most frequent number of kilns found was either 2 or 3 with 27 responses in each case. The minimum capacity was 5,000 b.f. and the maximum was 370,000 b.f.1 Respondents indicated that steam heated and direct fired kilns were the most frequent type of kiln in their facility (35.8% each).
