Service Bulletin: Fuel Gas Booster Installation Instructions for the Capstone 60 Every revolution, the compressor starts with a fixed volume and reduces it to a smaller fixed volume. The work of the compressor on this volume is related to the pressure of the gas occupying the volume. The higher the initial pressure, the more work the compressor must exert on it. Therefore, it is recommended that the inlet pressure be at a minimum. The Fuel Gas Booster is a variable speed drive device that operates on DC power. The Capstone 60 power control module provides the required 750 Volts DC. The electrical grid powers the Capstone 60 power control module. Additionally, a Capstone High Pressure Fuel Option Kit (Part Number 507849-100) must be installed between the Fuel Gas Booster outlet and the Capstone 60 inlet. The Fuel Gas Booster must be set level prior to operation. Also, the equipment must be placed at least 48 inches from the side of the Capstone 60 enclosure to provide adequate service space clearance. The Fuel Gas Booster is supplied with a maintenance kit comprised of various tools, including a hand pump and lubricating fluid (oil). These tools and other items are used to maintain the Fuel Gas Booster at optimum operating efficiency. Refer to the Operations Manual supplied with the Fuel Gas Booster for additional information. Safety Precautions: Always observe safety precautions. Never work on energized equipment. Always check for voltages with the proper test equipment. Before servicing, always check to ensure that your microturbine is de-energized from the utility. Wait at least 15 minutes after disconnection before servicing.
