Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Service Bulletin SB0041: External Battery Wake Connections – Model C60 MicroTurbine 4. The nominal 12V source JUCB J10-7 (JUCB_BAT_PWR) and ground return JUCB J16-4 (GROUND) may be used to power the wake signal circuit. This is done by combining these two terminals with a contact closure in an external circuit, to apply the wake signal from JUCB J10-3 (ISO B-START+) to JUCB J10-2 (ISO B-START-), as shown in Figure 1. When the wake signal is being applied, up to 5W may be taken from this source. When the wake signal is not being applied, no power is drawn from this source. NOTE Power taken from this source will drain the Auxiliary battery in the UCB. If this battery becomes discharged, the MicroTurbine will not start. Wire length up to 100 feet EXTERNAL SYSTEM External contact Normally open Closes for 0.1s to 2s to start MicroTurbine User Connection Bay J10-7 (JUCB_BAT_PWR) J10-3 (ISO B-START+) J10-2 (ISO B-START-) J16-4 (GROUND) Figure 1. Interface circuit for JUCB battery start input from an external circuit contact closure of duration between 0.1 second and 2 seconds. 5. Dual-mode installations should also be wired to terminals JUCB J10-3 (ISO B-START+) and JUCB J10-2 (ISO B-START-) as follows: New DMC Installations – Refer to the DMC Application Guide 513000. If Table 7 of the Application Guide shows that the DMC terminal 7 (BATTERY START A) is connected to JUCB J10-6, then disconnect it from JUCB J10-6. Instead, connect DMC terminal 7 to JUCB J10-3 (ISO B-START+), and install a jumper in the JUCB from JUCB J10-2 (ISO B-START-) to JUCB J16-4 (GROUND). The final configuration should be as shown in Figure 1. Existing DMC Installations - In the JUCB move the DMC terminal 7 connection from JUCB J10-6 (BAT_START) to JUCB J10-3 (ISO B-START+), and install a jumper in the JUCB from JUCB J10-2 (ISO B-START-) to JUCB J16-4 (GROUND). The final configuration should be as shown in Figure 1. 450005-001 Rev A (August 2002) Page 2 of 4 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
