Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: High Humidity MicroTurbine Package Applications The High Humidity package is designed to meet the requirements of a variety of applications, including: • Integration by OEMs into specialty packages, such as for an NEC Class I, Division 2 or IEC/EN Class I, Zone 2 hazardous locations. • Operation outdoors in remote locations where the weather is highly humid. The High Humidity package is not designed to protect against corrosive environments or installation in marine environments without additional protection. Refer to the Outdoor Stainless Steel MicroTurbine Package Application Guide (480010) for additional information. Description of Components The following section refers to components that are unique to the High Humidity package. For details on the rest of the system components, refer to the C30 MicroTurbine Component Description Technical Reference (410012) and the C65 MicroTurbine Component Description Technical Reference (410035). Heaters Heaters are supplied with the High Humidity package to keep moisture from condensing when the engine is not running as well as when the MicroTurbine is in storage. The heaters require external 208 to 240VAC 2-wire power. The thermostat is fixed at 50 °C. Figures 1 and 2 show typical location of the heaters and thermostat control. Figure 3 shows the terminal connections (TB6-25, TB6-26, and Ground) in the User Connection Bay (UCB) for external power feed. Relay K3 in the control circuit automatically switches the heaters off when the MicroTurbine is operating (see Figure 3). Figure 4 provides a schematic of the heater circuit. Figures 5 and 6 provide a schematic of the of the heater power wiring in the UCB.
