Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: High Humidity MicroTurbine Package Construction The construction of these systems includes the following differences from the standard Capstone MicroTurbine products: 1. Heaters – The systems include three heaters inside the enclosure with integral fixed temperature thermostat control. The heaters are intended to maintain the inside of the MicroTurbine package above the ambient dew point when the engine is not running or during MicroTurbine storage. 2. Protected Electrical Components – The electronic boards in the standard Capstone MicroTurbines are conformal coated to protect them from moderate levels of moisture and contaminants. The High Humidity package increases the level of corrosion protection by adding a protective coating (often referred to as “grease”) to points of electrical interconnection between components. 3. Battery with Internal Contactor – Many uses for the High Humidity package are for the oil and gas applications. Therefore, the battery construction is the same as for the Class I, Division 2 MicroTurbine systems, and includes a 24VDC contactor to allow remote isolation of the battery pack from the rest of the MicroTurbine. 4. UserConnectionBay(UCB)Accessories a. DualPortSerialtoEthernetConverter–SincemanyusesfortheHigh Humidity package are for oil and gas applications, a serial to Ethernet converter is included that provides for communication to both the User and Maintenance RS-232 ports in the MicroTurbine using a single high-speed Ethernet port. b. Relays – Three relays are pre-installed in the User Connection Bay. These relays provide more flexible emergency stop functionality, feedback signals when using a Capstone controller, and enclosure heater control. c. Terminal Block – An additional terminal block is provided to make field wiring easier. Spare terminals are also included for custom use. 480035 Rev B (October 2008) Page 2 of 12 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.
