Refer to Capstone Service Bulletin SB0015 regarding installation of transient voltage suppressors. Also, refer to the Fuel Gas Booster Owner's manual for detail operation and maintenance information. Introduction The recommended inlet operating pressure for the Model C60 is between 517 and 552 kPa gauge (75 and 80 psig). Applications in which the inlet supply pressure is less than 518 kPa gauge (75 psig) will require a Fuel Gas Booster. The Fuel Gas Booster (510447-003) is designed for operation with inlet pressures ranging from 1.7 to 103 kPa gauge (0.25 to 15.0 psig). Higher supply pressures will require regulation down to within the noted range. The Fuel Gas Booster power consumption is adversely affected by increased inlet pressure, as the booster is a positive displacement compressor. Increased inlet pressure results in increased power consumption, which results in a decrease in overall system efficiency. Every revolution, the compressor starts with a fixed volume and reduces it to a smaller fixed volume. The work of the compressor on this volume is related to the pressure of the gas occupying the volume. The higher the initial pressure, the more work the compressor must exert on it. Therefore, it is recommended that the inlet pressure be at a minimum. The Fuel Gas Booster is a variable speed drive device that operates on DC power. The Model C60 power control module provides the required high voltage supply. A Capstone High Pressure Fuel Option Kit (Part Number 507849-100) must be installed between the Fuel Gas Booster outlet and the Model C60 inlet. The Fuel Gas Booster must be set level prior to operation. Also, the equipment must be placed at least 36 inches from the side of the Model C60 enclosure to provide adequate service space clearance. 512001-001 Rev C (March 2004) Page 1 of 8 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation. CAUTION It is essential to have an adequate supply of gaseous fuel. The fuel supply MUST BE sized to maintain a minimum of at least 1.7 kPa gauge (.25 psig) under all operating conditions, including start-up requirements. Failure to have a sufficient supply of fuel will result in low inlet pressure Fuel Gas Booster faults.
