It prevents reverse flow at the fuel inlet. Table 3. FGB Component Description Component Function Dual Shutoff Assembly This assembly integrates two normally closed solenoid valves to provide redundant gas isolation protection for the FGB. It shuts off fuel flow at the inlet by command from the fuel control board (FCB) or shutoff relay. Inlet Block The inlet block is an aluminum manifold with input ports for primary, bypass, and scavenge gas lines, and two outlet ports that feed the gas input lines to the scroll compressors. Scroll Compressors Two oil-flooded scroll compressors, configured in parallel, are controlled by the VFD to boost the inlet fuel pressure to a predefined level. Each compressor has one gas inlet port, one oil inlet port, and one output port for the gas/oil mixture. Low Pressure Switch The low pressure switch is installed on the dual shutoff assembly. The low pressure switch trips and outputs a fault signal if pressure at the inlet drops below the trip setpoint. High Temperature Switches Each compressor outlet has a temperature sensor. If the temperature of the oil and gas coming out of a compressor is higher than the trip setpoint, the high temperature switch for that compressor trips. Primary Oil Separator The primary oil separator separates the oil from the gas after it is discharged from the scroll compressors. The primary oil separator also serves as an oil reservoir and has upper and lower sight glasses for determining oil levels. High Pressure Switch The high pressure switch is installed at the gas outlet of the primary oil separator. This switch trips and outputs a fault signal if gas pressure is greater than the trip setpoint. Oil Check Valve The oil check valve is installed in the oil line between the primary oil separator and the heat exchanger. It prevents reverse flow in the oil line back to primary oil separator. Heat Exchanger The heat exchanger is installed in the oil line between the oil outlet of the primary oil separator and the oil inlets of the scroll compressors. Its function is to prevent the compressor oil from overheating. Oil Filter The oil filter is installed in the oil line between the outlet of the heat exchanger and the oil inlets to the scroll compressors. Bypass Valves Two spring-loaded relief valves are installed in the bypass gas line to maintain consistent outlet pressure levels at low compressor speeds by re-circulating unused fuel back to the inlet block. Secondary Oil Separator The secondary oil separator is a spin-on gas/oil separator installed at the gas outlet of the FGB.
