Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Glossary of Terms and Acronyms GRID CONNECTED (GC) - Operating with the MicroTurbine load also connected to the utilityís power distribution grid. In this mode of operation, we prevent any supply of power to the output if the grid voltage is outside the normal range (typically ±10% of nominal) as a safety feature. GRID INTERCONNECTION ñ UL Certification for compliance to UL 1741 standard for interconnection with utility grid. GROSS POWER ñ The power generated by the MicroTurbine when measured at the generator leads. Gross Power does not account for the parasitic losses of the complete system. Generally Gross Power is expressed relative to ISO standard conditions. GSPV ñ ìGrandeî Smart Proportional Valve H2S ñ Hydrogen Sulfide. See Sweet Gas and Sour Gas. HARNESS ASSEMBLY ñ A prefabricated wire assembly with terminals or connectors attached at multiple locations (more than two (2)). Harness assembly may also have an accessory, such as a thermocouple, permanently attached to the assembly. HCB ñ Hybrid Control Board (Model C60). Consolidation of BCM, LCM, and HEV control boards into one (1) board, configurable through hardware connection and software. HEV - Hybrid Electric Vehicle. HEX FILE ñ Specific software build file that can be downloaded onto a hardware platform or programmed into a ROM device. HHV ñ Higher Heating Value (Gross Heating Value). Calorific value of a fuel. HOUSEKEEPING SUPPLY ñ The single low voltage power supply in a controller. The DPC controller, for example, uses a 13.8 VDC housekeeping supply to provide energy to the logic elements, the solenoids, the fans, and the valves. HP (1) ñ High Pressure (fuel/gas). HP, hp (2) - Horsepower. Hp-hr ñ Horsepower hour. HS FAN ñ Heatsink fan. A high flow induction motor used to cool the entire subassembly including IGBT heatsink, power supply, inductors, EMI filter, and brake resistor. Hz ñ Hertz (frequency). IC ñ Internal Combustion. IEEE ñ Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IGBT - Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor. Used in the power module and produces 3-phase waveforms using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). 400002-001 Rev A (Apr 2002) Page 13 of 22 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
