FILE EXTENSIONS ñ Appends the end of files to identify the type of file/data contained within. Examples include: .PLT (Plot File), .SMF, .DOC (Word), .XLS (Excel), .DXF (AutoCAD), .VLM (Vellum), .PDF (Adobe), JIF/JPEG/TIF (Graphics), and .ZIP (Compressed File). FILTER CAPACITOR ñ Used in conjunction with LCM inductors to reduce low frequency noise (<100kHz). FOC ñ Fuel on Cart ñ Items that are fuel dependent and reside either on an enclosure or on a cart. The first of the three elements in a modular fuel system. Mainly consists of a tube/fittings to connect package fuel inlet to Fuel Filter on FOP. FOD ñ Foreign Object Damage. FOE ñ Fuel on Engine ñ Items that are fuel dependent that reside on either an engine or a space frame. The third of the three elements in a modular fuel system. Mainly consists of a manifold, injectors, and tubes/fittings to connect manifold to injectors. FOP ñ Fuel on Plate - Items that are fuel dependent and reside on a fuel plate. The second of the three elements in a modular fuel system. Mainly consists of fuel filter, shut-off valve, SPVxx, fuel system components mounting plate, tubes/fittings connecting these fuel system components. FREQUENCY ñ The oscillatory rate in Hertz (cycles per second) of the alternating current. Normally 60 Hz (no lower than 59.5 or higher than 60.5) in the United States and 50 Hz in Europe. FRU ñ Field Replaceable Unit. A component authorized for field replacement by service providers. FUEL SYSTEM ñ A complete list of components (including supporting hardware) in the fuel path from the MicroTurbine package inlet to the engine. It typically consists of the fuel filter, shut-off valve, flow control device(s), fuel distribution package inlet to the engine. In modular form, a fuel system consists of three elements: FOC, FOE, & FOP. GAS COMPRESSOR (COMP) ñ Gas compressor to boost fuel gas pressure in low-pressure gaseous systems. (OR) Air Compressor used in liquid fuel systems to assist in atomization of the liquid fuel in the Combustor. GC ñ Grid Connect. GENERATOR - The portion of the turbine engine that produces electrical power during normal operation. The generator is also used as a motor during startup and cool down. GRI ñ Gas Research Institute. GRID ñ A system of interconnected power lines and generators that is managed so that the generators are dispatched as needed to meet the requirements of the customers connected to the grid at various points. 400002-001 Rev A (Apr 2002) Page 12 of 22 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
