Torr Technologies was established in 1989. Our first tools were constructed using the typical triangle extrusion bonded directly to the mold surface. It was a proven, if not somewhat problematic, method of sealing reusable vacuum bagging systems. In late 1991, we became involved in making height-adjustable tools for the printed circuit board industry. A “V” shaped seal seemed a logical solution and a few examples were constructed and tested. We then progressed to bonding this type of seal to a frame with a diaphragm to see how the three worked together and the T-7 system was born. The term “T-7” is derived from the letter “T” in Torr and the seal shape resembling the number 7.
