Research institutes was the second most frequent choice and it was more popular in Canada. Certain Canadian respondents tried to solve their problems using internal expertise (21.6%) or help from other companies (7.6%). In Europe, 10% of the respondents were turning to friends or colleagues for assistance. Private consultants were almost equally hired in both regions, although kiln control suppliers were more often used in Europe. A very small number of Canadian respondents used knowledge from wood drying 78
