between early and late respondents and, if significant statistical differences are found, then non-response bias is present. In order to detect whether non-response bias was present, the following three important variables were considered: number of kilns, annual dried lumber production, and number of employees. Responses from the first mail out (n = 103) were included in the early responses group and those from the second mail out (n = 60) were included in the late responses group. Independent samples t-tests as well as Levene's tests for equality of variance were performed at an alpha level of 0.05 for the 3 variables to detect statistically significant differences between early and late responses. Table 1 shows that there were no significant differences in results for either Levene's test or the t-test for the variable number of kilns between early and late respondents.
