CHAPTER 5 FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS FOR THE INVESTMENT OF CONVENTIONAL AND VACUUM DRYING One of the objectives of the project is to determine by the use of a feasibility analysis (cash flow, net present value, and internal rate of return) differences between conventional and vacuum drying for 4/4 red oak lumber. The drying costs obtained in chapter 4 were used to perform the feasibility analysis. The cash flow was performed in Microsoft Excel. Net present value and internal rate of return were calculated using the formulas presented in chapter 3. The obtained values of NPV and IRR were used to compare conventional with vacuum drying and to determine which technology was more economically feasible. The analysis was conducted for a 84PDF Image | Impact of Vacuum-Drying on Efficiency of Hardwood Products
