Capstone Turbine Corporation ■ 21211 Nordhoff Street ■ Chatsworth ■ CA 91311 Service Bulletin: Battery Pack Service Criteria – Model 330 MicroTurbine Charging the Battery Pack Outside the MicroTurbine Charge the battery pack outside the MicroTurbine as follows: 1. Turn off the battery isolation switch on the battery pack. Connect the battery charger cable to the battery pack, and then connect the battery charger to a suitable power source (capable of providing 86 to 265 volts rms at a frequency of 45 to 65 Hz). 2. Turn on the battery charger power switch. The battery charger display should illuminate and display voltage and current. Turn on the MicroTurbine battery isolation switch. 3. Set the current control on the battery charger to the fully clockwise position if the power source is capable of supplying the full power demanded by the battery charger. If the power source is not capable of supplying the full power, then adjust the current control to a setting that the power source will allow. Notice that the voltage control on the battery charger serves no purpose in this mode of operation. 4. The charging process has now begun. The battery pack is fully charged when the current reading on the battery charger is down to approximately 100 milliamps or less. Notice that the charging process may take up to 6 hours. 5. Once the charging process is complete, turn off the battery isolation switch on the battery pack, and then turn off the power switch on the battery charger. 6. Remove power from the battery charger, and then remove the battery charger cable from the battery pack. This completes the battery pack charging process.
