COPELAND CONFIDENTIAL To: From: Date: Subject: Service Kit for Biogas Applications Using Copeland Fuel Gas Boosters Mark Gilbreth – Director of Capstone Customer Service Mark McCormick - Copeland Corporation November 16, 2001 Sent Via e-mail Dear Mark, Copeland is pleased to announce availability of a no-charge service kit for fuel gas boosters currently commissioned in biogas projects. This notice also applies to distributor inventory of Copeland systems planned for biogas projects, but not yet in service. Development of the Copeland biogas service kit is the result of testing by Copeland, both at our engineering labs and at select customer sites. The kit includes a thermistor, associated wiring and installation instructions. The field retrofit is simple and upgrades the current fan controls for proper operation in water laden biogas applications. NOTE 1: Failure to install the Copeland biogas service kit on systems operating or planned for biogas applications will significantly reduce compressor life, may cause permanent damage and will void all equipment warranties. NOTE 2: Effective November 16, 2001, we are taking new orders for systems applied to biogas applications. These systems will be built to order, with a new model number. New systems will have the above upgraded fan controls installed at the factory. Customers will need to contact Copeland prior to purchasing a fuel gas booster for biogas. This will enable us to collect gas analysis details and allow us to review the general application first. It is imperative that gas treatment/drying be done correctly for the Copeland system to function properly. NOTE 3: Copeland warrants its fuel gas booster against parts and manufacturing defects only.
