Description Ignition Exciter Module Replacement In the recent past some MicroTurbines were built with an Ignition Exciter module enclosed in a blue-colored box. The manufacturer has since discontinued production of this particular unit, and it was replaced with an upgraded Ignition Exciter module enclosed in a silver-colored box. A limited number of MicroTurbines were built with the upgraded Ignition Exciter module in a silver-colored box, and it was soon discovered that this unit was also susceptible to premature failure. At the time, a number of faulty Ignition Exciter modules in silver-colored boxes were reworked and the date was stamped on each unit as an indication that these units were brought into serviceable condition. There are still a number of faulty Ignition Exciter modules in silver- colored boxes currently in operation, and they need to be replaced immediately with the latest module design, regardless of their present working condition. This Service Bulletin provides identification and replacement instructions for the faulty Ignition Exciter modules. 512338-001 (July 2001) Page 2 of 6 Service Bulletin SB0021.
