Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 Service Bulletin: HEV Contamination Preventative Measures Recommended Actions The following actions are required and must be followed sequentially to eliminate the possibility of fuel system component contamination. Replacing fuel lines and operating system before installing new injectors will ensure contamination is cleared and is not introduced into the new injectors. 1. Contact Capstone Technical Support to receive a kit of replacement injectors, injector fuel lines and fuel purge hose. The kit contains parts that have been cleaned and inspected for debris. 2. Wait until the system has cooled and injectors are cool to the touch (est. 4 hours). 3. Clean all connections with degreaser and make sure connections are free of dirt and debris before disconnecting fittings. Wipe fittings with cloth to eliminate the possibility of introducing contaminants in the fuel system. WARNING: Introducing contaminants may cause clogged fuel injectors, leading to system failures. 4. Perform component replacements for the following parts: NOTE: Keepcapsoninjectorlinesuntilreadyforuse. a. Remove and replace fuel lines for injector 1 (510332), 2 (510334) and 3 (510335). b. Remove and replace the fuel purge hose (509766), which attaches from the air-assist solenoid to the fuel manifold. 5. Start the system and allow it to run for one hour. 6. Stop the system and allow it to cool per the suggested time in Injector Replacement Work Instructions (440007). 7. Replace all three injectors per 440007. Use anti-seize compound (514572) when assembling lines to injectors. Make sure anti-seize is applied to injector threads only. Anti-seize in injectors will cause failure. NOTE: Visual differences between injectors in location #1 (509093) and in locations #2 and #3 (513561) are shown below. Injectors in locations #2 and #3 contain machined grooves in the lower positions and the injector in location #1 has a reduced diameter section. Reinstallation of the injectors into the same positions is important for proper operation.
