Summary Capstone has modified desiccant kits for C1000 series systems to better maintain humidity levels within engines and systems in storage. Original desiccant packages have been modified to eliminate the clay desiccant pack. All desiccant material has been changed to silica gel, and the quantity of silica gel desiccant packs has been doubled from four to eight. The purpose of the change is to better maintain humidity levels within engines and systems in storage. C1000 series systems in storage or installed and not yet commissioned (less than 12 months from date of shipment) require immediate change to the new desiccant kits. Refer to Table 1 for affected serial numbers. Required Action The following action is required to maintain warranty/FPP coverage: • Install desiccant kit(s) into affected system(s) (refer to Table 1) immediately. Refer to Capstone Model C200 Microturbine and C1000 Series Desiccant Kit Replacement Work Instructions (440297) for specific installation instructions. Responsibility It is Capstone’s responsibility to: • Provide this Service Bulletin containing description of the problem and a recommended solution to Capstone's Authorized Service Providers. • Make available the desiccant kit (530020-101) at no charge to Authorized Service Providers for the resolution of issues or enhanced functionality related to microturbine systems in storage. • For system under warranty or FPP: If applicable, provide reimbursement for flat rate labor of o 3hoursforunpacking/repacking(requires2people,1.5hoursperperson) o 0.25hoursperbayfordesiccantreplacement 450126 Rev A (September 2013) Page 1 of 3 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
