Safety Precautions Only Capstone Authorized Service Providers (ASP) should open the MicroTurbine and other equipment connected to the MicroTurbine. The systems can include multiple sources of power. Observe and adhere to the Safety Instructions contained within the MicroTurbine manuals. Summary If the MicroTurbine is configured in Grid Connect mode with the battery breaker ON and the utility is disconnected (breaker is opened), the battery will remain awake resulting in battery drain. A battery pack that remains awake may be drained in a few hours, depending on the ambient temperature. If drained, the battery pack would require a Grid Connected Idle Recharge or the use of a Capstone external charger to charge the battery pack prior to operation. If left awake for an excessively long period, the battery may be drained too low to recharge, and a full battery pack replacement would be required. In Grid Connect mode, the battery would “wake up” if: 1) the BATT START button on the display panel is pressed, 2) battery start terminals are closed through the UCB, 3) a 30-day equalization charge during load state is initiated by the system, or 4) the user initiates a manual charge via remote monitoring software or the display panel. It is unlikely that the sequence of these conditions would occur simultaneously. However, should the battery become fully discharged, recharge using a Capstone External Battery Charger (P/N 512933-001).
