Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Work Instructions: Igniter Replacement – Model C60 MicroTurbine Required Tools 􏰪 10mm Socket for package removal 􏰪 3⁄4” Wrench 􏰪 #2 Phillips head screwdriver 􏰪 Flat head screwdriver 􏰪 12 point 1⁄4” Socket, Extension and Drive 􏰪 1⁄4” Torque Drive set to 45 in-lbs 􏰪 LPS Penetrating Compound 􏰪 Nickel-based Anti-Seize Compound Procedures 1. Shut down the engine and wait for cooldown for approximately three hours. 2. Remove all power sources and fuel supply from the MicroTurbine system. 3. Remove the MicroTurbine right side panel. 4. Disconnect igniter cable from spark exciter solenoid using the 3⁄4” wrench. 5. Spray the Igniter bolts with penetrating compound. Wait for five minutes. 6. Spray the Igniter bolts with penetrating compound again. Wait for five minutes. 7. Remove the igniter cable holding straps using the # 2 Phillips screwdriver and 5/16” flat head screwdriver. 8. Use the 12-point 1⁄4” socket and drive to remove the four igniter bolts. IMPORTANT: If any resistance is felt while removing the bolts DO NOT PROCEED! Spray more penetrating compound and wait. Due to the thermal expansion in this region, removal of the igniter bolts can be difficult. 9. Replace the igniter making sure to re-install the gasket. 10. Do not re-use the bolts! 11. Apply nickel-based Anti-seize compound to the threads of the new igniter bolts 12. Insert bolts and tighten using fingers. 13. Use the 45 in-lb torque drive to tighten the bolts. DO NOT over tighten. 14. Lead the igniter cable back through the connector in the frame to the exciter box. 15. Reconnect the igniter cable to the spark exciter solenoid. 16. Tighten by hand. 17. Use the 3⁄4” wrench to tighten. 18. Turn on power. 19. Turn on the fuel supply. 20.
