Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Work Instructions: ECM IGBT Module Replacement – Model C60 MicroTurbine Required Tools 10 mm socket #2 Phillips head screwdriver #3 Phillips head screwdriver 1⁄2” socket Procedures 1. Ensure the MicroTurbine system is in the standby state. 2. Remove all power sources and fuel supply from the MicroTurbine system. 3. Remove the MicroTurbine left side panel. 4. Remove ECM cover by removing 14 screws using the #2 Phillips screwdriver. 5. Disconnect cables from ECM Control Board. a. J5 Fan Power, J12 Inter System UCB, J9 Intra System, J11 Power Supply Tmp, J2 Brake IGBT, J1 Gen IGBT, J8 Power Supply, J3 Voltage Sense, J4 Engine Harness, J6 LCM1 6. Remove ECM Control Board with mounting frame. a. Three screws using #3 Phillips screwdriver 7. Remove cables from ECM Power Board. a. J3 Fan Inv, J1 Voltage Sense, J2 Phase Voltage, J4 Power Supply, E1 Bus+ and E2 Bus- 8. Disconnect ECM power board from IGBT module. a. Four screws using the #3 Phillips screwdriver b. Four nuts using the 10mm socket c. Remove two #2 Phillips screws from capacitor mounting plate at base of package d. Remove ECM power board assembly (power board, capacitors and mounting plate) 9. Remove IGBT module with heat sink from housing. a. Remove cables attached to the IGBT by removing four 1/2” nuts. b. Remove two IGBT holding straps by removing five screws per strap using the #2 Phillips screwdriver. c. Remove IGBT module with heat sink. 10. Install new IGBT module. Torque should be 45 in lbs. 11. Connect two IGBT holding straps using #2 Phillips screwdriver. 12. Attach cables to IGBT module using four 1⁄2” nuts. Be sure nuts are secure by using torque wrench set to 80 in lbs.
