ST PETERSBURG SECTION 8 CARBON MEDIA CHANGE OUT PROCEDURE 1. Shut down the skid and de-energize the control panel with the disconnect 2. The gas inlet valve (VA 311) will automatically close off the supply gas to the skid. 3. Open valve (VB 362) to purge the gas from the carbon media vessels 4. Check pressure gauges (PI 361, and PI 362) to ensure there is zero pressure in the carbon media vessels 5. Isolate the vessels by closing valves (VB 352 and VB 364) 6. Remove the 12 bolts from the flange on the top of each vessel 7. V acuum out the spent carbon media. 8. Re-fill the bottom half of each vessel with AFT Siloxane media Series A type DD, and re-fill top half of each vessel with AFT Siloxane media Series A type MD, leaving 8” to 12” head space between the top of the media and the vessel discharge pipe. 9. Re-install the vessel lids ensuring that the flange gaskets are properly aligned and not folded over or torn. 10. Re-install the 12 bolts and torque bolts using a criss-cross pattern to the spec below. 1/2” bolt thread size: 9/16” bolt thread size: 5/8” bolt thread size: 70 ft-lbs 100 ft-lbs 135 ft-lbs 11. Recheck the torque on each bolt using a criss-cross pattern. 12. Close valve (VB 362) Section 8 Siloxane Page 4
