Exit Water Temperature Too Low Perform the following checks if the exit temperature of the water is lower than desired: • Verify that the temperature controller is in the automatic mode. If the HRM is in the manual mode, then the controller may not be adjusting the modulating actuator to regulate the level of heat recovery. • Verify that the microturbine is not operating at reduced power levels. If the microturbine is operating at reduced power output, then the energy in the microturbine exhaust will also be reduced. This will impact the amount of energy available for the HRM to recover. • Verify that the thermal loads are not higher than expected. If the thermal loads are higher than expected, the water temperature at the inlet will be too low. As such, the energy recovered by the HRM may be at expected levels but still insufficient to reach the desired setpoint. • See Figure 6 and check the dial indicator on the modulating actuator to verify that the position of the exhaust diverter is where it should be for the water temperature. If the water temperature is consistently too low, the modulating actuator may not be functioning properly. For example, the exhaust diverter may be at or near the full bypass position due to a failed modulating actuator. • If all general operational characteristics are normal, then the fin and tube assembly may have scale/deposits on it that are impacting heat transfer efficiency. 5.4. Temperature Controller Power Loss Refer to the C200 HRM System Wiring Diagram in the C200 HRM Technical Reference (Table 1). Possible causes for loss of power to the temperature controller are as follows: • If the HRM control panel is not receiving power (the power indicator lamp is off), a certified electrician should verify if power is available from the distribution panel. • The lack of power may be a problem internal to the HRM control panel. Contact a Capstone Authorized Service Provider (ASP) to troubleshoot and repair the HRM control panel. 400021 Rev B (October 2012) Page 24 of 26 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.PDF Image | Capstone MicroTurbine C200 Heat Recovery Module (HRM) User’s Manual
