2012 Internal Fault BRAKE FAILED Brake Failure System Severity Level 6 This fault is used to declare an error condition in the brake resistor in the IGBT module. This fault is declared if the power balance (generator power - inverter power - battery power - brake power) is greater than 15 kW (power imbalance factor). Symptom Probable Cause Analysis Repair Solution Invalid Brake data in PM Incorrect data programmed Incorrect data structures result in invalid brake settings Re-program DPC Power Board PM Brake Over- temperature Too Many Offloads Generator power output is dissipated through the brake resistor during offloads, and consecutive cycles will result in a brake overtemperature. Size loads to prevent frequent cycling Failed Brake Resistor Damage to Brake Resistor Measure resistance of brake resistor across BRK+ and BRK- terminals on DPC Power Board. It should be between 18 and 22 Ohms.
