Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Work Instructions: Remote Modem Installation Work Instructions Remote Modem Installation Introduction This document presents installation procedures for a Remote Modem to a MicroTurbine manufactured by Capstone Turbine Corporation®. This document specifically describes the installation procedures for the Remote Modem Communications Kit (514715), however the same procedures apply to any industrial modem. Description The Remote Modem Communications kit contains a modem (514716) that is manufactured by Sixnet (Model VT-Modem-1WW), a power cable assembly (514641), velcro fasteners and these work instructions. An Industrial Modem kit (510169) is also available from Capstone. It contains an ARC Industrial modem (509906), a power cable assembly (510167), a straight through serial cable, and these work instructions. The Industrial Modem kit has UL certification for use in the United States while the Remote Modem Communications kit offers CE and CSA markings for use internationally. The Remote Modem (shown in Figure 1) provides industrial-style telephone modem capabilities in a small, lightweight package. The unit operates on 10 to 30 Volts DC and delivers 33.6 kilobits per second (kbps) RS232 communications support. 440024-001 Rev A (October 2002) Page 1 of 6.
