Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 Application Guide: Dual Mode Controller (DMC) In the DMC, the Stand Alone enable interlock connects to digital ground via a normally closed auxiliary contact of the isolation device (DMC terminals 1 and 3). Also, the Grid Connect enable interlock connects to digital ground via a normally open auxiliary contact of the isolation device (DMC terminals 1 and 2). The DMC provides a second level of interlock with the MicroTurbine(s). A solid-state relay in the Communications Bay of the UCB must be programmed to close when the MicroTurbine(s) enter the Stand Alone Load state. (This is the only state when the MicroTurbine output is energized in Stand Alone mode.) This solid-state relay must be connected to the DMC (via DMC terminals 9 and 10). When the MicroTurbine(s) are in the Stand Alone Load state the solid-state relay is closed which immediately energizes the shunt trip of the isolation device in the DMC and removes power to the motor operator. This is designed to keep the isolation device in the open state whenever the MicroTurbine(s) are in the Stand Alone Load state. This secondary interlock feature operates independently from auxiliary contact-based interlock. In a MultiPac system, the interlocks are only connected to the master system (MicroTurbine). The master communicates the status of the interlocks and the operating mode to the slaves.
