Severity Level 2 - These faults are not serious enough to stop operation of the system. Faults are logged. Normal operation and communications continue. Severity Level 2 is not fatal. Severity Level 1 - Faults are not logged. Communications and normal operation of the device continue. These errors are expected as part of normal operation, for example, communications errors that are correctable. Severity Level 1 is not fatal. Severity Level 0 - No fault exists. This is the normal operating mode. System Severity Levels and Fault Actions The following table lists the system severity levels, definitions, fault actions, effect on the MicroTurbine, and typical example faults that could create the severity levels. System Severity Level (SSL) Definition Action Taken Can Restart? Example Fault 0 N/A No Fault None; Normal Operation N/A No Fault 1 Non-fatal Anticipated Error None; Keep Statistics Yes Communications Error 2 Non-fatal Warning Fault None; Normal Operation Yes One TET Thermocouple Out. (Turbine Exit Temperature) 3 Non-fatal Engine Control Fault Fatal Error, Cool Down Yes Turbine Overspeed 4 Fatal or Non-fatal Inverter Loss Cool Down If In SA Mode. Warm Down If In GC Mode Yes/ Possibly Grid Goes Away or Load Gets Too Large 5 Fatal Loss Of Power Path Warm Down Possibly IGBT Failure. (Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor) 6 Fatal Emergency Stop Hot Shut Down; Close All Solenoids; CPU Active Possibly E-stop, Pull 7 Fatal CPU Failure Hot Shut Down, Halt CPU No Failed ROM Test During POST (Power-On-Self-Test). Fault Code Series and Groups All of the MicroTurbine system faults are grouped under various categories, with a fault code series assigned to each group as shown in the following table. For example, the Series 3000 fault codes cover all faults related to sensors. A list of all individual fault codes with a brief description of each fault code and its severity level is included in this section. Fault Code Series Fault Group Fault Code Series Fault Group 1000 Control Board 7000 User Initiated 2000 Power Board 8000 Solenoids 3000 Sensors 9000 Generator 4000 Software 10000 Inverter 5000 Package 11000 Communications 6000 Operational 12000 Battery Observe Safety Precautions - Refer to Safety Instructions for Details 430013-001 Rev A (October 2002) 13 Model C60 Troubleshooting Guide This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
