9011 Internal Fault GDSP HANDOFF Generator DSP Failed to Hand Off System Severity Level 6 The software declares a fail to hand off fault when the rotor position feedback signal does not match the open loop speed position command, after reaching a predetermined RPM value. Recommended Spare Parts • PM • ECM • Inductor • IGBT Module • Engine Symptom Probable Cause Analysis Repair Solution The Rotor Position feedback does not match the Open Loop Speed Position command. Open/Loose Connection (Flex Harness) Check ribbon cables W201 and W203 for loose connections or damage. Secure or replace cable(s) Loose Connections (Screw Terminals) Check connections on flexibar W216 between IGBT Module and ECM Inductor. The torque on the screws should be 9 Nm (80 lb-in). Check cable W219 from ECM Inductor to output connections. The torque on the Inductors should be 7.3 Nm (65 lb-in). Open the generator junction box and check connections. Tighten wire connections per instructions. Short Circuit Exists. With the power off, open the generator box and measure the resistance between A, B, and C Phases with reference to a Chassis ground. Normally Each should measure more than 600 KOhms. Isolate the short condi- tion to the Stator or the ECM. To isolate the short condition to a single component, disconnect the 3 wires A, B and C Phases from the generator terminal block, and repeat the above test. If the short condi- tion is found in the Generator, then replace the Engine. If the short condi- tion leads to the ECM, then replace the faulty part in the ECM.
