Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Glossary of Terms and Acronyms SERVICE BULLETIN – A bulletin issued by Capstone Customer Service. It contains information related to the performance, operation, or service of fielded units. SERVICE NOTICE – Similar to a Service Bulletin but with a lower priority. SERVICE PARTS – A generic term to describe parts that are used in the maintenance and repair of Capstone equipment. A part, component, assembly, or module that replaces a defective part in the MicroTurbine generator system while fielded. Includes both Maintenance Parts and Repair Parts. SERVICE PARTS LIST – A list of serviceable parts available to authorized service providers. SFC – Smart Fuel Controller (SPV/LFC). SG – Sour Gas. SIMPLE CYCLE – A MicroTurbine that does not employ a recuperator. The overall system thermal efficiency is less than a recuperated MicroTurbine, as more fuel must be burned to reach the correct power and gas temperatures. SIP – Small Industrial Package. SLPM – Standard Liters Per Minute flow. S/O – Shut-off. SO2 – Sulphur Dioxide. SOC – State of Charge (of a battery). SOFTWARE LOAD - This is the software that operates a controller or subassembly (like an SPV or RFC). Each variant of the software that must be loaded into a product is considered a software load. For example, if three versions of software are needed to control all variants of a product, each of the three is considered one software load. SOFTWARE RELEASE - The software release is an event that occurs when a software program is ready to be used by customers or operations. This occurs after the software has completed software release testing (QA) process and is controlled by configuration control. SOUR GAS – Natural gas that contains hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The concentration (ppm) of hydrogen sulfide at a given pressure determines if the gas is considered “sour”. SOV – Shut-Off Valve SPARE PART – A part, component, assembly, or module (FRU) that replaces a defective part in a system. Not all spare parts are field replaceable units (FRU). Typically, these parts are installed during a repair effort. SPARES KIT – A group or kit of parts that contains the parts, instructions, and packaging material required to ship and install a spare part. SPV – Smart Proportional Valve used to control the fuel flow into the turbine engine. Used in a high-pressure or a low-pressure fuel system in conjunction with a FB-RFC.
