May be used to determine if air filter is clogged and requires servicing. PDM – Power Distribution Module. PEAK LOAD / PEAK DEMAND – The electric load that corresponds to a maximum level of electric demand in a specified period, e.g., seasonally or yearly. PEAK VOLTAGE - For sinusoidal voltage or current waveforms, the peak value is square- root-of-two times the RMS value. PERSONALITY MODULE - A small electronic module attached to a subassembly that permits electronic retrieval of information about that subassembly. The kind of information can include: 1. Configuration information (part number, rev level as built, serial number, date of manufacture, location of manufacture, etc.). 2. Idiosyncratic information (results of ATP, any item-to-item variable data needed to establish trend lines or operational variances, etc.). 3. Operational history (items such as bearing lift-offs, number of run hours, faults, etc.). pf – Power Factor. PM – Personality Module. PMG – Permanent Magnet Generator. POST/P.O.S.T. – Power On Self Test. POWER – A term meant to imply both capacity and energy. The rate at which energy is transferred. Electrical energy is usually measured in watts. POWER FACTOR – The fraction of power actually used by the electrical equipment compared to the total apparent power supplied, usually expressed as a percentage. Power factors apply only to alternating circuits; direct current circuits always exhibit a power factor of 1. A power factor indicates how far the electrical equipment causes the electric current delivered to be out of phase with the voltage. The most used convention is to treat this as a ratio (0 – 1.0) instead of a percent. ppm – Parts per million. Used to define the concentration of gaseous pollutant species. ppmvd - Parts per million on a dry volumetric basis. Used to define the concentration of gaseous pollutant species. PRECHARGE RESISTORS – Used to limit surge current into DC-Bus upon power-up. PRIME MOVER – Any equipment used to power an electricity-producing device. PRODUCT OPTION (Kit) – A collection of parts, accessories, assemblies and/or components that are added to the baseline system to extend or modify the system capabilities.
