The brake resistor supplies an alternate path for power from the generator if a load is suddenly removed. Will absorb excess energy out of the system. BRANCH CIRCUIT – The portion of the building wiring system beyond the final overcurrent protective device on the power-distribution panel that protects the circuit to the field-wiring terminals in a permanently connected unit or to the receptacle outlet for a cord-connected unit. BTU (Btu) – British Thermal Unit. A measure of heat energy; the amount of heat energy necessary to raise the temperature of one pound-mass of water one degree Fahrenheit. C30 – Capstone Model C30 MicroTurbine (previously Model 330 MicroTurbine). C60 – Capstone Model C60 MicroTurbine (previously Capstone 60 MicroTurbine). CABLE ASSEMBLY - A prefabricated wire assembly with terminals or connectors attached at two ends. CAPACITOR BANK – high-voltage capacitors connected to DC-BUS that provides transient energy during IGBT switching. CAPACITY – A measure used to define the electrical output potential of a generating unit, utility or the entire system. Capacity is expressed in units of electrical power, usually megawatts. CAP M (CAPACITY MARGIN) – The capacity margin is the difference between net capacity resources and net internal demand. Capacity margin in percent is this difference expressed as a percent of net capacity resources. CAPSTONE 60 – Earlier designation for Model C60 MicroTurbine. CARB – California Air Resources Board. CART – Structure that supports the major assemblies and accessories required to create a MicroTurbine generator system. The cart is contained within the enclosure and can be removed to allow access for service or repair of the modules, assemblies or accessories. The cart is mounted on wheels that facilitate handling. CCHP – Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power. Also, see CHP and ICHP. CE MARK – Conformite Europeene (European Conformity) Mark. CE Marking per CE Marking Directive, 93/68/EEC signifies product conformance with European Union (EU) Directive(s). Approval marking for products being shipped into countries of EU. CERTIFICATION - Concurrence by a regulatory agency such as UL or CSA that our product meets the governing specifications for our type of products. Certification results in approval to display the regulatory agency’s logo or mark on the product. Some agencies permit self- certification, where Capstone declares that its product meets the governing specifications.
