Capstone Turbine Corporation Model C200 User’s Manual 2.1. User Interface Port On a standard C200 microturbine (without a pressurized enclosure), the user port is a DB9 RS-232 serial communications port located on the User Connection Board (UCB) in the Communications Bay at the front of the unit. This connector (J5) is available for remote microturbine operation. Figure 2 shows the location of the user port connector J5. The user interface connections in the C200 hazardous location microturbine (with pressurized enclosure) are at the rear of the unit, and the RS-232 serial connections are used by the hazardous location controller. Connection for remote communication with a C200 hazardous location microturbine must be made at the controller. Refer to the C200 Hazardous Location Application Guide (480047) for details. You can communicate with the microturbine via the user port by using a Windows 98/2000/NT or later computer with an RS-232 null modem cable or Serial to Ethernet Converter and CRMS. Optionally, a modem may be connected to the user port for remote operation via a phone line at a baud rate of up to 56k bps. HIGH VOLTAGE WARNING: The User should NOT open the Power Connection Bay within the user interface. Potentially lethal voltages exist inside the Power Connection Bay. NOTE: The default user port user password is set to USR123P; the user can change it by using the Capstone Remote Monitoring Software on a computer connected either directly to the user port or remotely via a modem. In the event of a lost user password, your Capstone Authorized Service Provider can reset the user password to this default.
