PRELIMINARY Basic System Operation The Capstone 60 may be configured and commanded from the Display Panel. Commanding the system ON or OFF, changing the output power level, and viewing all settings and operational data may be accomplished directly. To make changes to any system settings or operational modes requires the entry of a user password. Entering and Changing Passwords The Capstone 60 Display Panel has an eight digit numeric user password (87712370) preset at the factory. In order to change the user level password on the Display Panel, the old password must first be entered, and a new password selected, per the following steps: 1. Traverse the menus to the System Data menu. 2. Navigate to Enter Password, submenu 7 of 7. 3. Select line three in the display window. 4. Enter the current password. 5. Press the ACCEPT Key. 6. Navigate to the System Settings menu 4/7, sub- menu User Password 13/15. 7. Select line three in the display window. 8. Enter the new password on the keypad, ensuring that only one character at a time shows a change by watching the display window as the password is changed. 9. Press the ACCEPT Key. A confirmation message will be posted stating that the password needs to be verified. 10. Select line four in the display window. 11. Verify the new password on the keypad, ensuring that only one character at a time shows a change by watching the display window as the password is changed. 12. Press the ACCEPT Key. A confirmation message will be displayed stating that the password has been verified. If the new password is not verified in this manner, then the old password will remain in effect. Reconfiguring the MicroTurbine The Capstone 60 is normally programmed for a specific operation profile (configured) just once, during the commissioning of the system. Further configuration changes are rare, but may be needed if the electrical or regulatory environment changes, or if the application of the system changes. Configuration changes are accomplished via the Display Panel or over the communication port using the Capstone Remote Monitoring System (CRMS) software (sold separately) or other software utilizing the Capstone open communication protocols. Specific configuration and setup programming instructions can be found in the Installation & Start-Up manual. Remote Control User Interface Port (UIP) There are three ways for the user to communicate with the Capstone 60: 1. 2. 3. Some basic communications are accomplished by making or breaking contact between pairs of ter- minals on the printed circuit board located in the Communications Bay on the rear of the unit. The user may communicate directly through the Display Panel mounted on the Capstone 60. Via a PC type personal computer connected to the User Interface Port (UIP). The PC may be con- nected to the UIP either directly (RS232 D9 null modem cable), or via phone line and an optional modem.
