Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: Offshore/Coastal Systems – Hazardous and Non-hazardous Installations Storage Storage conditions for system are the same as a standard Capstone MicroTurbine system. Storage temperature range is from -40 to 65 °C (-40 to 149 °F). For further information, refer to the MicroTurbine Product Specification (460000). System Special packing is done to systems for offshore installations where ambient conditions are expected to be excessively humid and with saline content. Care should be taken to keep system as dry as possible and to prevent moisture from entering protective packaging. Desiccants are provided inside the package to reduce humidity while in storage. Crated system should be stored in a roofed area. Battery Maintenance It is extremely important to perform proper battery maintenance during storage. Battery should be manually charged, either by using a Capstone manual charger or by performing a manual charge in grid-connect mode. Failure to do so will prevent the system from starting at the time of commissioning and will make the battery unusable. Refer to the “MicroTurbine Standard Maintenance Schedule” (440000), for appropriate charging intervals based on ambient temperatures. Heater A heater is supplied with the package for offshore applications to keep moisture from condensing when the system is not operating. Provisions must be made to power the heaters from an auxiliary generator while the MicroTurbines remain non-operational. If the MicroTurbine will remain non-operational in a humid environment for more than two weeks, the heater must be powered on to prevent condensation inside the units. Exact Model C30 and C60 heater location shown in Figure 4 may change based on changes in hardware configuration. For further installation details or vendor information, see Appendix F, “Heater.” Model C60 Model C30 480010-001 Rev. A (February 2005) Page 8 of 23 Heater Figure 4.
