Troubleshooting A MicroTurbine That Does Not Wake Up Overview This section outlines instructions for troubleshooting a MicroTurbine that does not wake up, i.e., there is no display of fault codes or RS-232 communication to receive a fault code, or LED’s anywhere in the system. NOTE: Perform ALL of the following troubleshooting instructions since there may be more than one problem causing an inoperative MicroTurbine. Using a Digital Multi Meter (DMM), perform ALL of the following troubleshooting instructions. Record all your observations and measurements as you perform each step. Contact Capstone Technical Support for further assistance as required. NOTE: When calling Capstone for further assistance, have the results from ALL of the following tests available for consul- tation with a Technical support Representative. Refer to the troubleshooting flow charts on the following pages as required. The numbers inside parentheses on the troubleshooting flow charts correspond to the steps in the following trouble- shooting procedure. Refer to the Assembly Views #1 and #2 on the following pages as required. Grid Connect Mode Troubleshoot the Grid Connect mode as follows: 1. Measure Grid Voltage Set the Digital Multimeter (Tester) to measure AC voltage. Measure each phase of the grid connection at the User Connection Bay junction to the chassis ground (L1 to ground, L2 to ground, and L3 to ground). Each phase should measure between 208 and 305 VAC. Measure each combination of line to line voltages (L1 to L2, L1 to L3, L2 to L3). Each should measure between 360 and 528 VAC. Power Bay 2. Measure Voltage at Contactor Set the Digital Multimeter as in Step #1. Remove the cover of the Digital Power Controller (DPC). Locate the Contactor at the top of the DPC. Measure each phase of the Line side of the Contactor to the chassis (L1 to ground, L2 to ground and L3 to ground). Each phase should measure between 208 and 305 VAC. Measure each combination of line to line voltages (L1 to L2, L1 to L3, L2 to L3). Each should measure between 360 and 528 VAC. G N L1 L2 L3 DPC Contactor Observe Safety Precautions - Refer to Important Safety Instructions for Details 430001-001 Rev A (Apr 2002) 2 Troubleshooting Guide Capstone Turbine Corporation reserves the right to change or modify without notice the design, the equipment specifications, and/or the contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.
