Put the Meter positive on connector J5 pin 1 (DC BUS+) and Meter negative on J5 pin 3 (DC BUS-). It should read open. Put the Meter negative on connector J5 pin 1 (DC BUS+) and Meter positive on connector J3 pins 1, 3, and 5 (RFC motor out). Each should read 0.27 to 0.45 VDC. Put the Meter positive on connector J5 pin 3 (DC BUS-) and Meter negative on connector J3 pins 1, 3, and 5 (RFC motor out). Each should read 0.27 to 0.45 VDC. Put the Meter positive on connector J5 pin 1 (DC BUS+) and Meter negative on connector J3 pins 1, 3 and 5 (RFC motor out). Each should read open. Put the Meter negative on connector J5 pin 3 (DC BUS-) and Meter positive on connector J3 pins 1, 3, and 5 (RFC motor out). Each should read open. Set the DMM to measure resistance. Measure resistance from connector J5 pins 1 and 3 to chassis ground. They should not read short. Measure resistance from connector J3 pins 1, 3 and 5 to chassis ground. They should not read short. If a short exists, then check the RFC Motor as follows: Motor Check: Check for a short/continuity in RFC motor, by measuring from phase to phase, and phase to ground on RFC pump connector, i.e., pin D (phase A), pin C (phase B), pin J (phase C), and pin B (Ground). If there is no short, replace the Controller. If a short exists, replace the pump and the Controller. Manually check the RFC pump rotation and make sure it is not seized. If seized, replace the pump. If it is not seized, then command to run the system. Apply a current clamp on pump wires. If current is sensed, replace the pump. If no current is sensed, check the IPM power supply LED’s. If all six LED’s are ON, replace the Controller. If any of the LED’s is OFF, the IPM power supply has failed. 14. Disconnect BCT and Recheck the DPC DC Bus If you have reached this step according to the troubleshooting flowchart you have verified that there is a short circuit measured on the DC Bus in the DPC. Now it is necessary to isolate where the short has occurred (DPC, BCT or RFC). Locate the terminals E4 and E5 at the top of the DPC Power Board. Loosen the screws until the wires can be disconnected from the DPC Power Board. CAUTION: Be careful not to unscrew them completely as they are not designed to be removed! Doing so will damage the threads of the screw. Disconnect the wires making sure that they are isolated from the DPC and repeat the measurements in Step #11. 15. Disconnect RFC and Recheck the DPC DC Bus If you have reached this step according to the troubleshooting flowchart you have verified that there is a short circuit measured on the DC Bus in the DPC. Now it is necessary to isolate where the short has occurred (DPC or RFC). Locate the terminals E12 and E13 at the top of the DPC Power Board. Loosen the screws until the wires can be disconnected from the DPC Power Board. CAUTION: Be careful not to unscrew them completely as they are not designed to be removed! Doing so will damage the threads of the screw. Disconnect the wires making sure that they are isolated from the DPC and repeat the measurements in step 11. 16. Check Inverter IGBTs for Short Circuits In this section you will measure each individual IGBT (there are six for the line inverter and six for the generator inverter) for internal short or open circuits. First, locate the inverter IGBT screw terminals. They are to the right of the vent fan labeled 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 and are distinguished by the gold colored screws. Terminals 23 and 24 are connected to the DC Bus+ and DC Bus- respectively. Set the Digital Multi- meter to the “diode” setting.
