Application Notes: Fuel Gas Booster Installation Instructions for the Model 330 CAUTION: It is essential to have an adequate supply of gaseous fuel. The fuel supply MUST BE sized to maintain a minimum of 1.7 kPa gauge (.25 psig) under all operating conditions, including start-up fuel requirements. Failure to have a sufficient supply of fuel will result in low inlet pressure Fuel Gas Booster faults. NOTE: A maximum of three MicroTurbines may be used with a single Fuel Gas Booster. The Fuel Gas Booster power consumption is adversely affected by increased inlet pressure, as the booster is a positive displacement compressor. Increased inlet pressure results in increased power consumption, which results in a decrease in overall system efficiency. The Fuel Gas Booster for the Model 330 is a variable speed drive device that operates on 480 VAC power. The electrical grid is used to power the Fuel Gas Booster. A Capstone High Pressure Fuel Option Kit (Part Number 507849-100) must be installed between the Fuel Gas Booster outlet and the Model 330 inlet. The Fuel Gas Booster must be set level prior to operation. Also, the equipment must be placed at least 36 inches away from the Micro- Turbine enclosure to provide adequate service space clearance. The Fuel Gas Booster may be supplied with an optional Installation and Maintenance Tool Kit comprised of various tools, including a hand pump and lubricating fluid (oil). These tools and other items are used to maintain the Fuel Gas Booster at optimum efficiency. Each site should have at least one Fuel Gas Booster Installation and Maintenance Tool Kit plus one Maintenance Parts Kit.
