Capstone Turbine Corporation  21211 Nordhoff Street  Chatsworth  CA 91311  USA Technical Reference: C200 Hazardous Location Fire Suppression System 4.1.11. Heat Detectors Two heat detectors for the Fire Suppression System are installed in the C200 hazardous location enclosure (see Figure 8). Each heat detector consists of a sensor element installed in a hazardous area-rated junction box. The sensor element has normally open contacts that close at a temperature setpoint of 163 oC (325 oF). The heat detectors and pressure activated switch are wired in a parallel circuit with a 5.1 kOhm, 0.5 W, End of Line (EOL) resistor that is located at the end of the circuit within the heat detector junction box (see Figure 8). When triggered by a heat detector, the FSS Controller activates the horn and strobe alarms and initiates the CO2 discharge process. Refer to the Electrical P&ID listed in Table 1 for more information on the circuit. Heat Detector CO2 Discharge Nozzles Figure 8. CO2 Discharge Nozzles (Air Intake Compartment) & Heat Detector 4.1.12. Hazloc Horn & Strobe Assembly The hazardous location horn & strobe assembly is installed on the exterior of the microturbine enclosure to visually and audibly alert personnel that the CO2 discharge sequence has been triggered (see Figure 9). The hazardous location horn & strobe assembly operates on 24 VDC provided by the FSS Controller and is rated for the application and outdoor use. Refer to the Electrical P&ID listed in Table 1 for more information on the circuit. 410089 Rev A (February 2013) Page 14 of 54 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.
