Capstone Turbine Corporation 21211 Nordhoff Street Chatsworth CA 91311 USA Technical Reference: C200 Hazardous Location Fire Suppression System Pressure Operated Control Head Manual Release Extended Release Tank 4.1.2. Discharge Head Figure 1. Installed FSS CO2 Rack Discharge Head Electrically Operated Control Head with Manual Release Main Release Tank Discharge head assemblies are installed on top of each CO2 release tank and are used to discharge the contents of each tank (see Figure 1). When triggered by a control head, a release tank discharges CO2 through the discharge head and into its connected pipe to be vented within the microturbine enclosure. Capstone-supplied discharge heads use a “plain nut” assembly and primarily serve as a transition between the release tanks and their respective CO2 pipes. 4.1.3. Control Head An electrically actuated control head is installed on the valve assembly of the main release tank (see Figure 1) and requires a 24 VDC signal from the FSS Controller to trigger release of the CO2. Intended for installation in hazardous locations, this control head is constructed with an explosion proof solenoid. A manual release lever (with locking pin) is also installed on the control head to allow for manual bypass of the FSS Controller for local/manual activation of the CO2 discharge process. When activated, the Fire Suppression System discharges CO2 into the enclosure from the main release tank through the 1⁄2-inch main release line and two main release nozzles. The initial release of CO2 increases pressure in the 1⁄2-inch main release line, which activates all pressure operated devices, including the pressure operated control head on the extended release tank. When the pressure operated control head is activated, the extended release tank discharges CO2 into the enclosure through the 1⁄4- inch extended release line and two extended release nozzles. 410089 Rev A (February 2013) Page 9 of 54 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.PDF Image | Technical Reference C200 Hazloc Fire Suppression System
