Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: C200 Hazardous Location Turbine Assembly High Voltage Power Connections Figure 14 and Figure 15 show the external high voltage power connections to the turbine assembly. Refer to the Electrical Installation Technical Reference (410009) for specifications and guidelines for output power connections. The requirements for connecting external power cables to the C200 hazardous location turbine assembly are as follows: • Use the shortest wiring route whenever possible. • Route the wiring through an approved conduit or cable tray in accordance with local and national codes. Power wires and signal wires must not be routed though the same conduit or cable tray. • 400/480 VAC load power cables (Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, and Neutral) must be 120 mm2 two-wire pairs. The ground cable must be single wire 120 mm2. • 400/480 VAC input power cables for the blowers must be 8 mm2 (8 AWG) wire. • 230/277 VAC input power cables for the heaters must be 5 mm2 (10 AWG) wire. • Torque the line, neutral and ground lugs to 500 in-lb (5.77 kg-m). Torque the neutral-to- ground screw to 30 in-lb (0.34 kg-m). Figure 9 (top) shows the blower and heater power connections in the explosion proof junction box. Before connecting wires to the terminals in this junction box, ensure that the bolts, hex nuts, and washers securing the lid of the junction box are removed and the lid is open. After all connections are complete, close the lid of the junction box and secure it with the same bolts washers and hex nuts. Route the wires from the hazardous location controller through the customer access holes in the explosion proof junction box (see Figure 8). 480047 Rev.
