Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: C200 Hazardous Location Turbine Assembly Equipment Settings The following paragraphs describe equipment settings and requirements for a C200 hazardous location installation. Turbine Configuration The following configuration changes must be implemented in the UCB settings. • Start Priority: Set to User • Fault input 1: Active Open, SSL 4 • Fault input 2: Active Open, SSL 4 • Auto-restart function: Disabled • UCB relay outputs: Must be standard factory settings. All other settings are as standard factory settings. Some of these settings may depend on external devices and control configurations. Please consult Capstone if you have specific questions for your application. External Capacitor Bank An external capacitor bank may be required if any of the following conditions apply: • The kVA rating of the platform UPS system is 70 kVA or more • There are air conditioning units equal to or larger than 20 tons of refrigeration capacity. The capacitor bank is typically connected to the main power distribution panel. It must be sized larger than 160 kVAr and is designed for 5th harmonic filtering. Capstone does not supply the capacitor bank directly. Please contact Capstone to determine if a capacitor bank will be required for your particular configuration and for possible third party vendors. External Power Source The UPS or external power source must supply three-phase 230/277 and 400/480 VAC at 50/60 Hz, and it must be capable of supporting a 7.5 kW minimum load for each hazardous location pressurization system. The on-site UPS must be able to support this load plus any other required site load. For multi-turbine installations, the second turbine assembly can be started after the first turbine goes to load. This will save UPS battery energy during startup. NOTE 480047 Rev. B (November 2010) Page 34 of 82 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.PDF Image | Application Guide Capstone Model C200 Hazardous Location Turbine Assembly
