Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: C200 Hazardous Location Turbine Assembly Equipment Interconnection The following paragraphs describe the interconnection requirements for the C200 hazardous location turbine assembly. See Figure 13 for a hazardous location interconnection diagram. Installation Equipment Specific equipment is required by Zone 2, IIA and IIB, T1 specifications to safely and effectively install a turbine in an area that is classified as hazardous. Equipment supplied by Capstone and included with the C200 hazardous location turbine assembly is as follows: • A hazardous location enclosure constructed of type 316 stainless steel. • A pressurization assembly attached to the front of the enclosure. • Two gas detection devices with sensors located inside the enclosure. • Two heat detection devices with sensors located inside the enclosure. • A Capstone hazardous location controller, required to control the pressurization system and turbine. Equipment supplied by the installer or customer is as follows: • Air intake piping, gaskets, and mounting hardware. • Air exhaust piping and mounting hardware. • Engine exhaust piping, gas-tight insulation, and mounting hardware. • A stand-alone power source to power the pressurization system before the turbine starts. This is usually a black-start capable UPS. • Optional remote monitoring system such as a SCADA or DCS, to be connected to the PLC via Modbus protocol. The remote monitoring system must provide audible and visual alarming at a constantly manned location. • An optional 5th Harmonic capacitor bank filter, if required. 480047 Rev.
