Capstone Turbine Corporation Model C1000 User’s Manual two empty modules on the C600 and one empty module on the C800. These empty compartments can be field retrofitted with a 200 kW power module if higher system power outputs or redundancy is desired in the future. The C1000 container is suitable for outdoor installations and is of a rugged design engineered to protect the turbine assembly equipment from the elements. 2.2.8. Combined Heating and Power (CHP) Combined Heating and Power (CHP) allows the user to realize the benefits of usable electrical and thermal power from a single fuel source. The electricity provides on-site power generation, and the heat offsets or replaces local thermal loads such as space heating, pool heating and industrial process hot water. CHP requires an additional Heat Recovery Module (HRM). In addition, the oxygen-rich exhaust together with ultra-low emissions makes the direct exhaust applicable for some food processing and greenhouse uses, such as heating, cooling (by absorption), dehumidifying, baking, or drying. The HRM for use with the C600, C800 and C1000 models is an exhaust economizer with integral temperature setpoint controller and exhaust diverter. The controller provides digital readout of water temperature leaving the heat exchanger, and allows the user to set the desired outlet temperature. An electrically operated exhaust gas diverter valve is actuated by the controller to maintain outlet temperature to the selected setpoint. Power for the controller and actuator can be supplied by the auxiliary electrical output of the C1000 series turbine assembly. Contact your Capstone Authorized Service Provider for details. 2.2.9. Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) Option Capstone offers a C1000 series turbine assembly that enables the use of LPG fuel, which requires that all fuel piping be heat traced and insulated. The C1000 series LPG model includes insulation and heat tracing on all internal pipes. Internal heat tracing is controlled by a heat trace controller in the C1000 series enclosure. Refer to the Fuel Requirements Technical Reference (410002) for fuel definitions. 2.2.10. High Humidity Option The high humidity option enables use of the C1000 series turbine assembly in high humidity environments. The enclosure of the high humidity turbine assembly contains externally powered heaters with integral fixed temperature thermostat control. The heaters are intended to maintain the inside of the microturbine package above the ambient dew point when the microturbine is not running. The high humidity microturbine also provides increased corrosion protection by adding a protective coating (often referred to as “grease”) to points of electrical interconnection between components and cables. 2.2.11. Capstone Remote Monitoring Software Capstone Remote Monitoring Software (CRMS) is the optional Capstone proprietary software that can operate and control the turbine assembly from the user Ethernet port (see Figure 2).
