CHAPTER 3 Capstone SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Main Output Contactor The main output contactor is used to initiate and stop export of the system’s main electrical power output, and is located in the Power Connection Bay. Auxiliary Output Contactor An auxiliary output contactor provides a small amount of 3-phase AC power to selected loads for a short time prior to the main output contactor closing, and is located in the Power Connection Bay. Brake Resistors To prevent an overvoltage condition from occurring on the DC bus, a brake resistor is connected across to the DC bus.
