The data are drawn from a Western 15 Regional Biomass Energy Program study. The types of digesters analyzed were covered lagoon, plug-flow, and complete-mix. Each digester type was evaluated under two specific scenarios. The first accounted for a full revenue stream, which includes savings from on-farm electricity and heat recovery offsets, surplus electricity sales, manure disposal savings, and the sale of digested solids. The second evaluated each digester technology accounting only for savings from on-farm electricity offsets and surplus electricity sales. It was assumed that the manure removed from the parlor and feedlane accounted for about 55% of the manure produced on the farm. The digested solids and liquids were assumed to have no monetary value, even though the liquids can be land applied with irrigation guns.
