Public Facility Santa Cruz County Jail Santa Cruz, California In the coastal community of Santa Cruz, California, the county jail uses a pair of rooftop-mounted C60 ICHPs to lock-down the excess in its PG&E bills. The Capstone C60 ICHP microturbine cogeneration system is far more power-dense (smaller footprint, lighter weight) than similarly sized reciprocating engine CHP systems. Its power density, quiet operation, and complete lack of vibration make the high-efficiency C60 ICHP the perfect candidate for a rooftop installation, even when situated right over offices. One thing Capstone microturbine installations never have is the ubiquitous oil leakage puddle that is found under just about every other onsite generator, because Capstone microturbines use no lubricants, coolants, or other hazmats.
